John Burt

John is an experienced Leadership and Professional Coach specializing in helping executives and senior professionals to become purpose-driven leaders with the necessary traits to inspire and lead their teams and organizations with impact.

John began his work career at General Dynamics in Pomona California, where he worked for 8 years. He advanced through several positions to the role of Supervisor, Material and Production Control, responsible for 50+ employees, and for the planning, purchasing and production of over $1 billion worth of inventory for two major Department of Defense programs.

John went to work as a senior consultant for Ernst & Young LLP, where he specialized in supply chain strategy, design and re-engineering and led several key client projects. He continued his career in management consulting joining PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWCC) in where he became a Partner in the High-Tech vertical with an emphasis on Supply Chain. He moved to Europe where he worked and lived for 10 years in the Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, UK, Germany, Belgium and other countries.

IBM acquired PwCC in 2002, and John became a Partner/Executive of a new IBM division called Global Business Services. He held several Senior Partner and Executive positions at IBM in Europe and the United States before retiring from IBM after 18 years in 2020. Over the course of his career, John has worked with over 40 Fortune 500 companies and hundreds of leaders around the global.

John is the Founder and Managing Partner of John Burt Leadership, a leadership coaching firm helping leaders at all levels to improve their self-awareness and their leadership capabilites. John is a Master Certified Executive Leadership Coach. He enjoys talking about leadership and culture, and he writes leadership articles and produces his own leadership podcast.

John holds a B.A. in Behavioral Science from California State Polytechic University, Pomona. He is currently a Board Member for the Rotary Club of Pasadena, and he is a Vice Chairman of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. He is also a senior advisor to Legacy Youth Leadership and the UCSB PACE Program. John was recently named to the Dean’s Advisory Board for Cal Poly, Pomona C.L.A.S.S..
