Description:

Clear, compelling coaching agreements are the foundation of trust and partnership. This session, led by Brenda Baird, MCC, CMC, Executive Leadership and Mentor Coach, explores how contracts and proposals establish boundaries, clarify roles, and reflect a coach’s mindset and accountability. With over 30 years of business and academic experience, Brenda brings practical expertise and deep knowledge of the ICF Core Competencies and Code of Ethics.

Through examples, discussion, and applied exercises, coaches will learn how to structure agreements that uphold ICF standards while maintaining client ownership of goals and outcomes. The session emphasizes key components such as scope, boundaries, confidentiality, logistics, fees, and termination, showing how each element safeguards the coaching relationship. Coaches will also explore the differences between contracts and executive coaching proposals, and receive a framework they can adapt to reflect their own coaching style, brand, and ethical practice.

By the end of the webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Explain the professional importance of written coaching agreements in establishing clarity and trust.
  • Identify key components of a coaching contract, including scope, boundaries, confidentiality, logistics, fees, and termination.
  • Differentiate between a coaching contract and an executive coaching proposal, and describe how each supports client relationships and business sustainability.
  • Draft or refine their own client contract or proposal using a provided framework that reflects their coaching style and brand.
  • Apply principles of communication, partnership, and accountability when discussing agreements with clients.
