Description

Many coaches understand the ICF competencies conceptually but struggle to apply them confidently in group and team coaching settings, where multiple voices, differing goals, and real-time dynamics are at play.

This interactive Group & Team Coaching SIG session focuses on what competency-aligned group coaching looks like in practice, not theory.

During this session, participants will:
💠Observe a live group coaching demonstration grounded in the ICF Core Competencies
💠Explore how ethical practice, contracting, trust and safety, and client growth show up when coaching multiple participants at once
💠Clarify the distinction between group coaching and team coaching, including:
💠When the client is a group of individuals
💠When the client is the team as a single entity
💠When the ICF Team Coaching Competency extensions apply

Interactive Learning Experience

The session is designed as a SIG-style, peer learning experience and includes:
💠Live demonstration of competency-aligned group coaching
💠A facilitated breakout discussion using real-world coaching scenarios
💠Group reflection focused on practical coaching decisions and boundary management
💠Participants will identify specific coaching tactics that maintain integrity and alignment with ICF standards.

Upon conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:
💠Differentiate group coaching and team coaching using current ICF definitions and frameworks.
💠Apply the ICF Core Competencies in real-time group coaching practice.
💠Observe and analyze competency-aligned coaching behaviors from a live demonstration.
💠Identify when team coaching competency extensions are triggered and what that means for design and delivery.
💠Translate observations into practical, actionable coaching moves for their own practice.
