Do you have a kernel of an idea, a gem of inspiration, a journal full of notes, or a complete book swirling around in your head? If you have ever been intrigued about the possibility of sharing your wisdom, helping others and establishing yourself as an expert by writing a book, join ICFLA for our October Chapter Event: From Idea to Print.

We have a panel of authors, a book coach and publisher ready to share their candid wisdom and experiences to help you take the next step toward your dream.

We’ll be getting the straight talk on topics like:

  • Honing your book idea.
  • Outlining your story.
  • Doing your research.
  • Establishing the discipline for a writing routine.
  • Getting published.
  • Leveraging your book to gain new clients, speaking gigs and other opportunities.

It’s time to turn the page and start writing.

Join us for an informative and interactive evening, with plenty of time to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones. We are back to in-person Chapter Events at the Skirball Center and we can’t wait to see you there. 

There will be giveaways throughout the evening, including:

Panelist Bios

 

Monica Fernandez

Monica Fernandez is media director at Red Hen Press, where she manages the media and publicity of all Red Hen’s books, as well as the team of marketing and media interns who help the department run. 

She also pioneers the Red Hen Reading Series in Pasadena; arranges the company’s participation in literary events across the country; promotes book news, reviews and press publicity across Red Hen’s social media networks and contacts; connects authors with media and interview opportunities; and liaises with Foreign Rights and Film Rights agents for prospective sale of language and film rights.

She has had several short fiction and creative nonfiction pieces published in The Chaffey Review, Rind Literary Magazine, Scribendi, The Left Coast Review, Creepy Gnome, and Pure Slush Magazine’s Envy anthology. 

She graduated from the University of California, Irvine cum laude with a BA in English with an emphasis on Creative Writing, and from City University London with a MA in Creative Writing and Publishing. She is Filipino-American, a proud Hufflepuff, and a film and theater enthusiast.

 

Damian Goldvarg

Dr. Damian Goldvarg is a Master Certified Coach, Accredited Team Coach, Certified Supervisor (ESIA), and the Past President of the International Coaching Federation (2013 and 2014). He has 30 years of experience in leadership development, working in more than 60 countries.

He is a recipient of the 2018 Circle of Distinction from the ICF for his global contribution to the coaching profession and the 2019 Supervision Award from EMCC for his contribution to developing Supervision worldwide.

He is the author and co-author of eight books on coaching – six in Spanish and two in English – and has trained hundreds of professional coaches, mentor coaches, and coach supervisors worldwide in English and Spanish.

He is the co-leader of the Americas Supervision Network, Asian Supervisors Network,  Spanish Speaking Supervisors Network, and Master Certified Coaches Network from Latin America and Spain.

 

Kim O’Hara

Kim O’Hara helps coaches, thought leaders and executive clients author books when they have no idea how to be writers. After 40 years as a writer, Kim works with clients who have seen success in many areas of their lives and want that same level of accomplishment with a book.  Kim’s clients’ books have appeared on the top five Wall Street Journal Business books, USA Today top ten lists, as well as number one non-fiction books in Barnes & Noble and Amazon.

Kim’s two-decade career in Hollywood as a movie producer and screenwriter is a notable perk, as she adds that special edge of storytelling when coaching her authors through their books.

She is a sought-after speaker for women’s leadership conferences such as the National Association of Women in Business and has taught teleclasses for ICF Los Angeles and Orange County. She has a popular weekly podcast, You Should Write A Book About That, where she talks to all kinds of writers about their lives… and of course writing.  Her self-help book on the denial of abuse will be released in 2023, and she is in negotiations for her second book, House.

Cat Williford

Cat Williford is an internationally renowned coach, speaker and author since 1994. She has supported thousands of women to move from debilitating self-criticism, fear, and so-so results, into experiencing outrageous levels of self-acceptance, authentic confidence, and success on their terms.

In her just-released book, The Ovarian Chronicles, Cat shares her vulnerable honesty which gives women permission to get real, forgive, heal and recover their own resilience.

In 2019 Cat launched Your Heroine’s Journey Live show, coaching programs and retreats to help women unmask their own brilliant stories, heartfelt vulnerabilities and resilience.

Cat has held the coaching profession’s highest credential of Master Certified Coach since 1998 and has trained over 13,000 coaches internationally.

 

Moderator Bio:

Carrie Williams 

Carrie is a leadership and executive coach, speaker, and Amazon best-selling author, of “eyes on the prize, a kick ass guide to setting and achieving great goals”, as well as, the founder of LA based RainShadow Coaching.

She holds a graduate certification in evidence-based coaching from Fielding Graduate University and an MA in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University.
