This is a two part event. In the first part, you will learn how to prepare yourself and your group / team coaching participants for a vulnerable and deeper coaching experience. Karen will help us define and unpack psychological safety and she will share frameworks to support you. You’ll be able to create group coaching activities and explore deep group coaching topics safely and bravely with your clients.
In the second session, Heather will share more about trauma informed coaching. This practice is the new frontier of leadership development. As coaches and leaders it is critical we have a foundational understanding of trauma, as well as the competencies and capacity to meet it, if we are to be prepared to navigate the complexities of today’s global landscape. You will not learn to coach through trauma, but rather how to react and support your group / team members when trauma shows up during a coaching session.
About Karen Palmer, ACC
Karen Palmer is an executive coach and facilitator who helps leaders accelerate their growth, build workplace cultures that thrive, and use their voices powerfully and effectively. She supports emerging and mid-career leaders and entrepreneurs across a wide range of professional fields. Karen worked for over 20 years as an assignment editor, producer, and senior producer at CBS News, CNN, and MSNBC. Karen’s unique background in corporate, nonprofit, and community-based work led to her recruitment as the founding director of operations for a public charter elementary school in New York City. Her tenure there inspired her to start a consultancy to provide coaching to school leaders and teams across the city and New York. A devoted New Yorker, Karen lives with her husband and daughter in Brooklyn. She lives for thick books, great music, new adventures, and the company of friends old and new.
